Better access to finance for small-scale enterprises in rural Paraguay

The microfinance institution (MFI) Grupo Internacional de Finanzas Sociedad Anónima Emisora de Capital Abierto (Interfisa Banco SAECA) focuses on microcredit and financing the small to medium enterprise (SME) sector. These two sectors make up more than half the overall loan portfolio. The bank focuses on serving clients in rural areas but is also active in urban areas. It has more than 50 branches in almost all departments.

Interfisa Banco SAECA is a member of the Paraguay Banking Association (ASOBAN) and has endorsed the Smart Campaign’s client protections principles, aimed at preventing over-indebtedness and promoting sustainable lending practices.

Since its foundation in Asunción, Paraguay’s capital city, in 1979, the institution has grown to become one of the biggest MFIs in Paraguay and a leading supplier of rural loans to micro and small businesses. In 2015 the institution received a banking licence.

Grupo Internacional de Finanzas Sociedad Anónima Emisora de Capital Abierto (Interfisa Banco SAECA) has been an Oikocredit partner since 2016.
