Ceape Pernambuco, founded in 1992, provides financial services to micro and small businesses in urban areas of Pernambuco state in north-eastern Brazil. Ceape was one of Brazil’s first microfinance organisations and first partnered with Oikocredit in 2007.

Oikocredit’s loan to Ceape Pernambuco will be used to support entrepreneurs in a range of business activities in urban areas of Pernambuco State (one of Brazil’s most disadvantaged states located in the north-east of the country).

Ceape provides a range of individual and pair loans but mainly extends loans to its micro and small business clients through group solidarity loans. The group solidarity loans support individual members in times of difficulty and help to prevent over-indebtedness.
