Growing Opportunity Finance (India) Private Ltd, founded in 2006, is a microfinance institution, part of the Opportunity International Network. Its head office is in Chennai. Growing Opportunity enjoys a loyal customer base in Tamil Nadu, where most clients live in rural areas and about a third lives in urban areas.

Oikocredit has partnered with Growing Opportunity as it operates in an area where only a few people have access to finance.  The organization has adopted the client protection principles (CPPs) and joined the Smart Campaign. In addition, it shares information with credit bureaus to avoid over-indebtedness. All members receive financial literacy training to ensure that they fully understand their loan or insurance product.

Oikocredit’s investment will be used by Growing Opportunity to lend on to members and to expand operations in rural areas of Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh.

Growing Opportunity has been an Oikocredit partner since 2008.
